The annual Niles District Library Writing contest is here! It’s time to get those brilliant ideas out of your head; put pen to paper, and submit your writing. Submissions will be accepted from July 1 - July 31, 2024. Winners will be announced Monday, August 12, 2024, on our website and library social media. Prizes awarded!
Writing Contest Rules and Information
• One entry per participant (all rights to the story remain the property of the author.)
• All entries must be original works by the entrant. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.
• A Submission Cover Sheet must be filled out and attached to each entry.
• Submission must be emailed as a PDF to youthservices@nileslibrary.net or a physical copy delivered to the Niles District Library Youth Services desk.

Youth ( Ages 0 – 12)
• Story (up to 5,000 words
• Picture Book (original text and illustrations, up to 20 pages)
Teen (Ages 13 – 17)
• Story (up to 5,000 words)
• Mini Lit (short stories, and essays less than 1,000 words )
• Poetry (less than 1,000 words)
Adult (Ages 18+)
• Story (up to 5,000 words)
