Getting a Library Card
Welcome to Niles District Library! A world of books, movies, audiobooks and other resources will be available to you when you obtain a library card. Stop by our Circulation Desk to apply!
Document Requirements
You will need a photo ID with your current address. If you have recently moved and your ID has not been updated, bring both your ID and a piece of business mail (such as your electric bill). Acceptable proof of current address include:
- Driver’s license
- Current utility bill (i.e. gas, electric, insurance)
- Current tax bill
- Rental or lease agreement

Residency Requirements
Out-of-District Residents: You may pay for a Subscription Card that offers great value at a low cost of $35 for a whole year.
Children: Anyone under 18 years of age must have their parent or guardian apply for a card, and the adult signing for the card will assume responsibility for the child’s account. To register a child for a library card, the responsible adult must have a library card in good standing.
All students at Niles Community Schools and Brandywine Community Schools qualify for library cards, regardless of residence.
What Can I Borrow?
Most items are easily renewable before they are due, with the exception of movies and items on hold for another patron. Items are renewable for one check-out period.
