2025 Annual Writing Contest
How It Works
The annual Niles District Library Writing Contest is here! It’s time to get those ideas out of your head, put pen to paper, and submit your writing. Submissions will be accepted from July 1-31. Winners will be announced Monday, August 11.
Writing Contest Rules and Information:
- One entry per participant (all rights to the story remain property of the author).
- Entries must be original works by the entrant. Plagiarism will result in disqualification.
Submitting Your Work
- You may fill out a submission cover sheet (available at the Youth Services Desk) and submit a printed version of your work in-person.
- Or you can fill out the digital submission form below and attach your work.

Youth (Birth – Age 12)
- Story (up to 5,000 words)
Teens (Ages 13-17)
- Story (up to 5,000 words)
- Mini Lit (short stories and essays with less than 1,000 words)
- Poetry (less than 1,000 words)
Adults (Ages 18+)
- Story (up to 5,000 words)
- Mini Lit (short stories and essays with less than 1,000 words)
