SUMMARY:Niles Art Association Presents: Artist Madeline Henry on Encaustic Painting
DESCRIPTION:Niles Art Association Presents: Artist Madeline Henry on Encaustic Painting\n\nMonthly on the First Tuesday\, April – December | 6 pm – 7:30 pm | Community Room | All Ages\n\nEncaustic painting is an ancient and highly tactile art form that dates back more than 2\,000 years to the civilizations of ancient Greece and Egypt. The technique involves combining heated beeswax with damar resin and colored pigments to create richly layered paintings with remarkable depth\, luminosity\, and texture. Artist Madeline Henry will bring several examples of her personal encaustic artwork to share during the presentation\, offering participants an opportunity to see firsthand the texture\, layering\, and luminous qualities that define this medium. In addition to displaying finished works\, she will introduce some of the specialized materials and tools used in encaustic painting\, including beeswax\, pigments\, brushes\, and fusing tools. Through this discussion\, attendees will gain insight into both the historical significance and contemporary creative possibilities of encaustic art.\nWe are a community of local artists and supporters dedicated to “enriching our community through the arts.” Our members explore a diverse range of visual arts\, including drawing\, painting\, fiber art\, wood carving\, photography\, pottery\, jewelry\, metalwork\, graphic design\, and digital art. Our mission: to bring the arts to the heart of our community. Meetings are free\, open to the public\, and no registration is required. \nContact Niles Art Association\nMail: Niles Art Association P.O. Box 801 Niles\, MI 49120\nEmail: nilesartassociation@gmail.com\nFacebook at Niles Art Association\nhttp://nilesartassc.webs.com/ \nNo registration is required. You do not need a library card to attend this FREE event. \nFor more information\, please contact Niles District Library\, at programming@nileslibrary.net or 269-.683.8545 ext. 116.
