DESCRIPTION:Campus for Creative Aging: Memory Café\nSecond Thursday of the month | 10am – 11am | Community Room | Adults 18+ \nThe Campus for Creative Aging’s Memory Cafés offer those with dementia and their caregivers the space to engage in art\, enjoy games and puzzles\, and learn about interesting topics in a safe and welcoming environment. Come and gather for snacks and socialization with a community of individuals in similar circumstances. \nCaregivers join their care recipient at each café\, and together they experience a haven for nonjudgmental fun. Memory Cafes are not a place of respite. They are a space for passions\, creativity\, and kindness\, supporting every café participant with hospitality and entertainment without the social stigma often associated with cognitive changes. \nWhile registration is not mandatory\, it will help us notify attendees if there is a change or cancellation due to weather or illness. Questions? Each granny square must be handmade by the individual submitting it.\nSize: Finished squares should measure approximately 5” x 5”\, with all ends woven in.\nYarn: Worsted-weight yarn is required.\nHook Size: Any hook size may be used\, as long as the finished square measures 5” x 5”.\nColors: All colors are welcome—creativity is encouraged!\nPattern: Any pattern may be used\, provided it results in a 5” x 5” finished square.\nCondition: Submissions must be clean\, odor-free\, and neatly finished.\nReturns: Submissions will not be returned.\nUnused Squares: Squares not selected for the final tapestry will be used in a donated item.\nProject Completion: Late August 2026.\nSkill Level: All skill levels are welcome to participate.\n\nA submission form is required.\nYou do not need a library card to participate in this project.\nFor more information\, please contact Niles District Library\, at programming@nileslibrary.net or 269-683-8545 ext. 116.
