SUMMARY:Event Canceled. Author Talk & Signing with Rose Mary Wood
DESCRIPTION:Event Canceled. Author Talk & Signing with  Rose Mary Wood\n \nThursday\, June 19 | 6pm – 7:30pm | Community Room | All Ages\n\nImportant Update: This event has been canceled. Check back later this summer for a rescheduled date. Join author Rose Mary Wood for a special event as she presents her new book\, Chronicles of Cass County\, Michigan. The program will begin with a discussion of the book and a Q&A session with the author\, followed by a book signing.  Books will be available for purchase.  \nNearly one thousand freedom seekers traveled through the area on their way to Canada. The first rendition of “The Old Rugged Cross” was sung in a local church before it became one of the best-loved gospel hymns in America. The first stop on the Orphan Train\, which moved street orphans from New York City to homes across the Midwest\, was in Dowagiac\, and the invention of Kitty Litter by local Edward Lowe allowed cat lovers the world over to finally bring their furry friends in from the cold. \nAuthor Rose Mary Wood commemorates the events and individuals who left their mark on Cass County and the world. \nNo registration required. You do not need a library card to attend the Free event. \nFor more information\, please contact Niles District Library\, at programming@nileslibrary.net or 269-683-8545.
